Viehscheid in the Allgäu (Alp-Abtrieb)
ALPSUMMER.Oberstaufen is in the middle of the largest contiguous alpine region in the foothills of the Alps. 40 of the 166 Alps are farmed for agriculture and livestock. Several thousand cattle are out and about in the Oberstaufen Alps every year. So it is not surprising that the cattle drive - cattle drive - has a high value throughout Oberstaufen and the district of Thalkirchdorf. After around 100 days, more than 1,300 head of cattle leave the mountains at the Rinderscheid in Oberstaufen, and more than 1,000 in Thalkirchdorf. From the holiday on the alp it's back to the farm at home.
