The Grüner Baum country inn is quietly and very idyllically situated at the beginning of a smaller side valley. Our 9 spacious double rooms and the family room with attached smaller twin room are located on the first or second floor of our house and all have a balcony, a flatscreen TV, WIFI and an en suite bathroom with shower and WC.
In the restaurant we serve fine Baden cuisine and international specialities, which are freshly cooked by us every day, as are our vegetarian dishes. Behind our house is a small herb garden where many of our herbs are grown organically. We are proud of our home and attach great importance to the origin of the products we use. With great attention to detail, we have "converted" our old vegetable garden into a beer garden. Using historical building materials and respecting the regional architectural style, we have created a gem, perfectly suited to end a beautiful day in a wonderful atmosphere and with fine food.
The Grüner Baum was first mentioned in a document in 1548 and has been family-owned ever since, which fills us with pride and joy. Many of our guests are regulars, and those who have been here once like to come back.
We love our job, we love the contact with our visitors and friendships have often developed with our guests. In our small and manageable family business, everyone helps out and it is precisely this family atmosphere, the love of detail and the profession that is palpable. With us, you are a guest with friends. This is also very important to us, because contact with other people is what makes our work fun.
Ludwig Weis took over the Grüner Baum from his parents in 2004 and has been running the house ever since. Ludwig & Tatjana Weis got to know each other when Tatjana was a guest at the Grüner Baum back then. A weekend of skiing then turned into a move.
In our free time, we enjoy the many opportunities that are available here. Freiburg, Strasbourg, Colmar, Basel and Lake Constance are not far away and there are many great hiking trails in the immediate vicinity.
However, the most beautiful thing to do from here is to walk along the stream in the direction of Obersimonswald. After a few kilometres, you reach the pristine and wildly romantic Zweribach waterfall in the middle of the forest. We love to walk there in our free time and rest on the lounger in the clearing near a former farm. It's hard to get more peaceful and in tune with nature.
